Dry Comal Creek believes there’s a great story in every bottle. From its founding in the 1970s as a family getaway by Franklin Houser, it was turned into a wine business in the 1990s. In 2017, it was sold to another family. Ralph Romero Sr. and his family loved the winery and decided to purchase it. Romero, a first-generation Mexcian immigrant, had fond memories of the area. He bought the winery to live the American dream with his own business. Although Romero is no longer with us, his family continues to honor his legacy through the winery. The winery is known for using only Texas grapes for authentic Texas wine! Today, Seth Urbanek is the expert winemaker at Dry Comal Creek. He brings his wealth of wine knowledge from France, Australia, Cornell, and the Finger Lakes. He’s also involved in the ever-growing Texas wine culture, so he definitely knows his stuff!

Make Your Own Wine
When you decide to make your own wine, Water 2 Wine guides you through the process of mixing the grapes and fermenting the yeast. Afterward, you get a batch of 28 bottles with your own bottle and label! You’ll get the whole wine-making experience in the Wine Cellar, and you can bring two to four friends to join the fun. After you book your appointment, the Water 2 Wine team prepares everything you’ll need to make your perfect blend.
Once you arrive at the winery, it takes about 30 minutes to make the wine. You’ll be fully immersed in choosing the flavor and learning how the wine is made. Once it’s mixed, the Water 2 Wine team will take care of your wine until it’s ready. The entire process takes over an hour, during which you’ll create your label with help from the team. If you have more friends who want to join, you can have a “Corking Party,” where two to eight people can be part of the wine-making process.
