Weihnachtsmarkt
Though it’s a mouthful to pronounce (hint: vy-noks-markt), it’s a wonderful New Braunfels Christmas event. Weihnachtsmarkt is a three-day, German-themed Christmas market located at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, where you’ll find goods from over 60 different merchants. It’s a great place to see locals display their work and a perfect place to find last-minute Christmas gifts. Shop through various collectibles, ornaments, holiday decorations, apparel, jewelry, and other gifts. This year, however, Weihnachtsmarkt is a virtual shopping market – curl up with your iPad or phone at River City Resorts and shop from the comfort of your cozy condo!
Santa’s Ranch
If holiday lights put you in the Christmas mood, then Santa’s Ranch is the place to go. Here, you’ll find an entire mile-long landscape of 1.5 million glittering Christmas lights you can admire from your car. This drive-through-style display of lights is perfect – bring hot cocoa, Christmas cookies, or kettle corn, and turn on your favorite Christmas music to set the mood. Known as one of the best holiday light exhibits in the state, you don’t want to miss out! Santa’s Ranch begins its lights display on November 2 and ends December 30.
Christmas Wine Affair
For 21+ fun, the Texas Wine Trail hosts a “Christmas Wine Affair” with over 40 participating wineries and vineyards! Upon purchasing your ticket, you’ll receive a “Tasting Passport” that includes a full complimentary tasting at each participating winery. These wineries typically create a Christmas-like atmosphere, with all sorts of holiday displays or a warm fireplace. Get a real taste of Hill Country and all that Texas Wine Country has to offer. This year, the Christmas Wine Affair will take place from December 4-20. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets online!
Christmas at the Caverns
The Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels transform into an underground Christmas wonderland during the holiday season! Enjoy glittering Christmas lights, caroling, a countryside trek, and an entire “Christmas Village,” as well as many other unique holiday attractions. Kids can visit with Santa “Spelunker” Claus and round up his reindeer in a 5,000-square-foot maze, and admire the beautiful and sparkling 30-foot Christmas tree!
